God Bless The Lesson Horse
A fundraising book project by Captivation Photography for Thoroughbred Athletes Inc.
Accredited through Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, Thoroughbred Athletes, Inc.'s mission is to rehabilitate, retrain, and re-home off track Thoroughbred horses and afford community youth the opportunity to experience the process. Their work promotes growth and learning in both horses and youth. Horses receive a solid training foundation for a second career prior to adoption into their new homes while their young volunteers learn valuable skills. Their youth program teaches a solid work ethic with an emphasis on teamwork, responsibility, confidence, and service to others.
This Limited Edition coffee table book features equestrians and their lesson or leased horses and ponies along with the stories of the lessons learned, funny stories, and heartwarming tales. For most equestrians, our horse crazy dreams began on the backs of our ever trusted lesson horses. With knowing eyes, an indulgent demeanor, and hearts of gold, they fueled our passion. Some of us couldn't afford to own a personal horse or simply could not convince our parents of the obviously amazing investment that a horse would be, so we pretended they were ours anyways. Sneaking peppermints into their stalls and sharing our secrets into their fuzzy manes while they contentedly munched on grass, they were ours-or more truthfully we were theirs. A lesson horse isn't really owned by a single person. They own pieces of all of the equestrians that have passed through their lives that they have shaped and inspired and watched move up the ranks. We owe them more than words can ever describe.
I am looking to capture the special bond between equestrians of all ages and their lesson and leased horses, past and present. The Details
- God Bless The Lesson Horse is a limited edition hard cover coffee table book showcasing the special bond between lesson horses and their students. Current registration is only open to those in Kansas and Oklahoma. If you are outside of this area, but interested in being a part of this project, please fill out this brief survey here.
- Sessions will be booked between the months of February and June 2021
- $299 registration and retainer fee includes professional horse and rider photography session with Captivation Photography, 1 mounted 8x10 print from your session, and one copy of the limited edition book. $100 of this retainer is directly donated to Thoroughbred Athletes Inc.
- Reveal session via Zoom to see all of the gorgeous images from your session, choose your printed image, and have the option to order from my full offering of custom, heirloom products.
- The publishing date of the books is slated for September/October and the books are professionally designed, published, and printed in the USA
- After your registration, I will be in touch with you to choose a date, learn more about you and your special lesson horse, and finalize all of the details!

Featured Barn Sponsors
Barns with at least two riders registered are eligible for a one page feature of their facility, lesson program, and staff in action! These featured sponsorships are highly limited and are on a first come, first serve basis. The sponsoring barns will have images taken of their facility, trainers teaching, and more on the day/days their riders have their sessions. Sponsored barns will also have a highlight of their training philosophy, quotes, etc. on their page. They will also be featured on Captivation Photography's platforms.
